New York Central RR Oil Filler Can
Description
An antique railroad oil filler can constructed from heavy-gauge galvanized tinplate sheet metal with soldered seams. The vessel features a conical upper section tapering to a threaded metal fill neck fitted with its original screw cap. An angled cylindrical pouring spout is soldered to the shoulder, complemented by a fixed sheet metal strap handle opposite the spout and a curved wire bail handle affixed to riveted side ear mounts. The recessed circular underside displays concentric raised reinforcing.
