Description
This lot comprises a collection of ceremonial polearms, a flagpole, and a professional surveying instrument. The assortment includes several spears featuring polished steel or nickel-plated leaf-shaped heads mounted to turned hardwood shafts with tapered metal sockets. One additional spear features a smaller, darkened diamond-shaped head on a slender shaft. The flagpole is constructed from finished hardwood and is topped with a silver-toned cast metal finial depicting an eagle with outspread wings perched on a globe, located above a brass ferrule. It includes decorative yellow cordage with tassels and a yellow fabric flag. The surveying leveling rod is a Philadelphia-style wooden instrument. It features a brass plate near the top with the impressed name DIETZGEN above the number 8532. The rod is designed with a painted white scale featuring black markings for tenths of a foot and red markings for feet, and it includes a sliding brass target frame. Surveying rod length: 7 feet.
