Description
An antique tea kettle of joined sheet copper construction featuring a broad circular base and a tapered body. The kettle is fitted with a gooseneck spout and a removable copper lid. The lid is topped with a blue and white porcelain finial, and the fixed overhead handle consists of wrought metal S-curved straps that secure a horizontal porcelain grip. Both ceramic components are decorated with blue underglaze stylized foliate motifs on a white ground in the Dutch Delft style. The handle supports are attached to the body via brass mounts and metal rivets. The construction shows evidence of traditional metalworking techniques including hammered joins and rolled edges. 7 in long 10 in high.
