Description
This is a automotive speedometer manufactured for General Motors Corporation, consistent with instrumentation found on 1930s Chevrolet Standard and GMC truck models. The instrument features a silvered metal face with a 0 to 100 miles per hour scale presented in a blocky Art Deco typeface. Red indicator marks are positioned at the 50 through 100 mph increments. A mechanical odometer located in the center displays a reading of 378087. The gauge is constructed with a steel housing, a glass face, and a plated metal bezel featuring four integrated mounting tabs. The tapered indicator needle retains remnants of red paint at the tip. The reverse side of the housing contains a central threaded speedometer cable connection and three ports for dashboard illumination bulbs. The rear casing is stamped with the manufacturer mark A C at the top edge. The central rear plate is stamped PAT MADE IN U.S.A., followed by DIV G.M.C., and ROCHESTER, N.Y. 5 in round
