Lot 47:
Description
This lot features two functional glass storage items from the mid-20th century Depression era. The first item is a rectangular refrigerator storage dish crafted from transparent green glass. It features a molded base with vertical fluting and a matching lid decorated with a radiating starburst pattern on the top surface. The second item is a cylindrical storage jar made of opaque green glass, frequently referred to as Jadite, attributed to the Jeannette Glass Company. This canister is labeled with the word TEA in black serif-style capital letters and features a horizontally ribbed beehive-style base. It includes a vintage metal screw-on lid. Both pieces exhibit a strong, bright neon-green fluorescence under ultraviolet light, confirming the presence of uranium in the glass composition.
