Lot 46:
Description
4.5 in long Attributed to Indiana Glass, this two-piece pressed glass covered dish is a classic example of mid-20th century American decorative glassware. The item is crafted from uranium glass, which produces a brilliant green fluorescence under ultraviolet light. The base glass is a light aqua or ice green hue, finished with a lustrous iridescent carnival coating that displays a spectrum of pink, gold, and blue highlights. The lid is molded in the shape of a seated hen with detailed molded feathers and a characteristic flared split tail. The base features a basketweave pattern on the exterior with a beaded rim. A molded mark is present on the interior center of the base, although it is not clearly legible due to the texture of the glass pattern.
