Description
14.5×9.5×9 A vintage wooden shipping crate manufactured by the Western Cartridge Company of East Alton, Illinois. This crate originally contained 500 rounds of 12-gauge shotgun shells. The item features nailed wood construction with finger-jointed corners and recessed hand-holds on the end panels. The exterior panels are decorated with black and red stenciled graphics. The side panels include the text LOADED SHOT SHELLS, the Western script and diamond logo, WORLD CHAMPION AMMUNITION, and SMALL ARMS AMMUNITION :: MADE IN U.S.A. The end panels specify the original load as SUPER-X Long Range Load, 2 3/4 inch, 1 1/4 oz., 6 CH. (chilled) shot, featuring smokeless powder and non-corrosive primers. Serial Number: [not visible].
