Description
14.5×9.5×9 This vintage wooden ammunition crate was produced for the Peters Cartridge Division of the Remington Arms Co. Inc., based in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The crate is of nailed wooden construction featuring rectangular hand-hold cutouts on each end. The exterior panels are decorated with orange, blue, and black stenciled markings. The side panels display the brand name Peters Victor in large orange letters, flanked by small Du Pont logos. Blue stenciled text on the sides reads Peters Cartridge Division, Remington Arms Co. Inc., Bridgeport, Connecticut, Small Arms Ammunition, 234, and Made in U.S.A. The end panels identify the original contents as 500 Shot Shells of 12 Ga. and 2 5/8 In. length. One end includes a detailed load specification: 3 1/4 – 1 1/8 – 8 Load 516, with a large 8 designating the shot size. The interior of the crate is unfinished wood.
