Description
24 x 43, 21 x 21, 33 x 33 This lot consists of three distinct handmade quilted textile items. The first is a square nine-patch style quilt featuring a central grid with five black-and-white printed fabric panels depicting North American wildlife silhouettes: loons, howling wolves, an eagle, a bear with cubs, and a moose. These panels are interspersed with four blue fabric squares printed with gold stars and featuring quilted star designs. The center grid is framed by a wide navy blue border with white stars and finished with a pink fabric binding. The reverse is cream-colored fabric with circular quilting. The second item is a square quilted piece featuring a central image of a moose in a marshy landscape, executed in shades of purple and blue in a batik-style technique. The central motif is surrounded by concentric borders of light pink and navy blue fabric, the latter showing visible white contrast stitching. The reverse is plain cream fabric. The third item is a rectangular quilted runner featuring a large floral print on a cream-colored ground, with roses and anemones in shades of purple, pink, and blue. It is bordered by a dark purple fabric with a tone-on-tone rose pattern and finished with a dark purple binding. The reverse is solid dark purple fabric. The wildlife quilt features a handwritten inscription in black ink on the reverse reading E v 11-2000.
