Description
30 x 36, 36 x 36 A pair of hand-crafted quilted wall hangings featuring appliqu?d and embroidered portraits in a folk art style. The first quilt depicts a male profile wearing a black bowler hat, a red necktie, and a dark jacket. This figure is set against a cream-colored diamond-quilted ground and framed by inner borders of light blue and outer borders composed of vertical striped pastel fabric and lavender panels with continuous-loop hand-quilting. The second quilt features a frontal portrait of a woman with stylized black hair and embroidered facial features. The figure is embellished with applied purple faceted synthetic jewels forming a necklace and drop earrings. This portrait is framed by light blue and seashell-print fabric borders. Both hangings exhibit decorative hand-quilting in diamond and scroll patterns and are finished with plain cream-colored fabric backings. No maker’s marks, signatures, or dates are visible on either piece.
