41 x 42 This pair of handmade quilt squares features appliqu?d profile portraits of women in wide-brimmed hats, a motif consistent with Southern Belle or Lady with a Hat folk art styles. Both pieces are constructed from cotton floral and solid fabrics using piecework, appliqu?, and hand-quilting techniques. The first square is designed with a purple and white color scheme, featuring a floral print border and a solid purple inner frame hand-quilted with a repeating heart pattern. The central figure wears a purple hat and a floral dress embellished with small clear rhinestones. The second square utilizes a teal and lavender floral theme. It features a teal inner border with hand-quilted scrollwork patterns. The central figure is depicted with a floral hat and dress, adorned with a single large green faceted jewel used as an earring. Close-up inspection of the reverse reveals off-white cotton backing with extensive hand-stitched quilting throughout.
