Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 414:
Description
76 x 84 This is a vintage handmade patchwork quilt top or coverlet, constructed using a machine-stitched utilitarian scrap-work method. The piece is composed of an array of fabric remnants from the mid-to-late 20th century, including cotton, polyester blends, and knits. The design features a non-uniform arrangement of rectangular and square patches interspersed with several large solid-colored panels in peach, pink, and grey. Patterned fabrics within the patchwork include ginghams, stripes, ditsy florals, bold geometric prints, and checks typical of the 1960s through 1980s. The reverse side shows a solid light peach or pink fabric, though the item appears to be an unquilted top or a roughly finished coverlet.
