Description

70 x 78 This is a mid-to-late 20th-century American patchwork quilt top constructed in a varied strip-pieced or string patchwork style. The unfinished top is composed of a diverse array of scrap textiles, including cotton, polyester double knits, corduroy, and various synthetic blends. The piece features a wide variety of mid-century and later fabric prints, including 1940s-1950s style florals, 1960s-1970s psychedelic and mod patterns, traditional plaids, stripes, paisleys, and solid-colored panels. It is formed by sewing together rectangular and irregular strips of fabric of varying widths using both hand and machine stitching. The reverse side shows exposed seams, indicating the piece has not been layered with batting or a backing. The outer edges remain raw and unfinished. No maker marks or labels are present.
