Description
62 x 80 This is a mid-20th-century American scrap quilt top featuring a string or strip-pieced patchwork design. The construction utilizes a wide variety of fabric remnants, including printed cotton calicos, ginghams, stripes, checks, and solid-colored pieces. Some fabric sections exhibit a sheen characteristic of rayon or silk blends, though the primary material is cotton. The top is organized into vertical and horizontal strips of varying dimensions. The piece features a simple machine-stitched quilting pattern consisting of horizontal parallel lines. The backing is comprised of a plain, off-white cotton fabric. The fabric prints, such as the feed sack florals and geometric patterns, are characteristic of the 1930s through the 1950s.
