Description
78 x 94 A vintage handmade scrap patchwork tied quilt or quilt top featuring a variety of madras plaids, checks, and solid fabrics. The piece is constructed from mixed cotton and cotton-blend textiles, including shirting and dress materials. The design consists of a non-uniform grid of rectangular and square blocks in a color palette dominated by burgundy, navy blue, forest green, ochre, and white. The construction utilizes both machine and hand-stitching, with visible knotted thread ties securing the layers. The reverse side exhibits raw seam allowances and loose thread ends, characteristic of utility folk art textiles.
