Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 377:
Sold for: $30
Description
66 x 82 This is a vintage, hand-pieced quilt top in a postage stamp pattern, likely dating from the mid-20th century, approximately the 1930s to 1950s. The piece features small, multi-colored fabric squares assembled into rectangular blocks separated by wide white cotton sashing strips. The patchwork is composed of a variety of cotton and cotton-blend fabric scraps, including era-specific prints such as florals, ginghams, stripes, checks, and novelty designs, many characteristic of feed sack or garment remnants. The construction is entirely hand-stitched, with raw seam allowances visible on the reverse side. This item is an unfinished quilt top, consisting of the pieced face only without batting.
