Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 322:
Description
60 x 80 This is an antique American hand-pieced quilt top in the Double Irish Chain pattern. The textile is constructed from cotton fabrics in white and navy blue. The navy blue fabric is a calico featuring a discharge-printed pindot or birdseye motif. The geometric design is created using nine-patch blocks arranged diagonally across a white cotton ground to form the chain effect. It features a navy blue border strip on at least one visible edge. The construction is entirely hand-stitched throughout, with long manual running stitches and raw, frayed seam allowances visible on the reverse side. This item is an unfinished quilt top and lacks batting, backing, or quilting.
