Description
80 x 80 A vintage American handmade patchwork utility quilt constructed from various cotton and cotton-blend fabric scraps. The quilt features multiple square blocks, including several variations of the log cabin motif with strips of contrasting fabric pieced around a central square, as well as simpler grid-based patchwork blocks. The collection of fabrics includes a diverse range of mid-20th-century patterns such as calico florals, ginghams, polka dots, stripes, and solids in a wide-ranging color palette of pink, red, blue, green, and yellow. The piece exhibits an improvisational, vernacular aesthetic with visible hand-stitching and irregular borders.
