Lot 260:
Description
64 x 74 This mid-20th-century American hand-quilted patchwork quilt features a central medallion or concentric diamond design. The center is composed of four diamond-shaped blocks in orange and red prints set against a white and red patterned ground, surrounded by a light blue field with small floral blocks. The design radiates outward in a series of concentric diamond-shaped bands made from various printed cotton fabrics, including teal green, purple floral prints, and cream-colored floral calico. Large pink triangles fill the outer corners. The item is hand-quilted throughout, featuring decorative fan or clamshell quilting in the corner sections and straight or diagonal lines following the patchwork in the central diamond sections. The backing is composed of two different fabrics: a small-scale floral calico print in shades of brown, orange, and green on a white ground, and a wide solid pink band along the bottom edge. Materials consist of cotton fabrics and batting.
