Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 213:
Description
70 x 80 This vintage American bed quilt features twelve primary blocks in a Spider Web or Kaleidoscope star pattern. Each block is hand-pieced from a variety of mid-20th-century cotton fabrics, including stripes, polka dots, ginghams, and solids, radiating from a central hub. These blocks are set against a background of repeating floral print fabric featuring purple and yellow flowers. The bottom edge is finished with a wide border of blue and white geometric printed fabric, and the entire quilt is bound with a solid lavender fabric. The piece is entirely hand-quilted in a concentric fan pattern across the entire surface. The diverse array of small-scale prints and feedsack-style patterns indicates a mid-20th-century origin, likely from the 1930s to 1940s.
