Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 214:
Description
72 x 76 This hand-pieced and hand-quilted American scrap quilt is constructed in a Snowball variant pattern using cotton fabrics and cotton batting. The primary design features white octagonal blocks with red polka dots set against a medium blue ground with white polka dots. The composition includes secondary blocks in purple and black polka dot fabrics. The quilt is finished with a pieced border of black and white polka dot fabric. The reverse is composed of a solid light aqua cotton fabric. Construction exhibits visible hand-quilting in a diamond and geometric pattern that follows the piecing lines. The binding is formed by turning the backing fabric over to the front face and hand-stitching it down.
