Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 143:
Description
64 x 84 This is a vintage hand-pieced quilt top featuring a Dresden Plate or sunflower pattern, likely dating from the mid-20th century. The top is composed of multiple circular and semi-circular blocks constructed from a diverse assortment of multi-colored scrap fabrics, including floral calicos, checks, stripes, and solids. These fabric pieces are hand-stitched onto a pale yellow ground fabric. The reverse side reveals the hand-sewn construction technique used to assemble the decorative blocks. The item is an unfinished quilt top, lacking batting and a backing layer. Faint, illegible script characters are visible on one of the yellow panels in what appears to be pencil or ink; however, the marks are too faded to be deciphered.
