Lot 6:
Description
This is a two-piece covered butter dish composed of deep cobalt blue pressed glass. The item includes a domed lid and a corresponding base plate. The lid is ornamented with molded clusters of cherries and leaves positioned beneath a series of circular thumbprints, and it is topped with a faceted, pointed finial. The matching base plate features a wide scalloped rim and a recessed center. The underside of the base plate contains a molded multi-point starburst motif. This pattern, often referred to as Cherry and Circle, is attributed to the Dugan Glass Company, with similar versions produced by companies such as Mosser Glass. No maker marks are visible on the glass.
