Description
This footed oval bowl is a piece of carnival glass produced by the Indiana Glass Company in the Harvest Grape pattern. Manufactured during the mid-20th century revival of iridescent glass, the piece is made of pressed blue glass treated with a heavy iridescent finish that displays vibrant shades of purple, green, and gold. Often referred to as electric blue, this specific coloration was a hallmark of the manufacturer’s 1970s production. The pattern features a dense, embossed arrangement of various fruits including grapes, leaves, apples, and cherries that covers both the interior and exterior surfaces. The vessel features an oval form with a scalloped, ruffled rim and is supported by four scrolled integral feet. While some cataloged examples of similar fruit patterns may bear manufacturer marks, no maker marks are clearly visible on this specimen, which is consistent with the standard production of this line by Indiana Glass.
