Description
This lot comprises a collection of antique adjustable monkey wrenches, also known as Coes-pattern wrenches, mounted to a finished wood panel. The tools are constructed of forged steel and iron with knurled adjustment screws and turned wooden handles. Visible maker’s marks include the Girard Wrench Manufacturing Company of Girard, Pennsylvania, and W. G. Coes. Specific markings observed on the metal components include GIRARD WRENCH MFG. CO. GIRARD PA. U.S.A., W. G. CO’S, PAT JAN 14. 96, and PAT SEP 7 97. The wrenches are secured to a rectangular wooden frame with wire ties, and the display is accented by a decorative metal chain draped across the top.
