Description

This lot comprises two miniature cast iron skillets, traditionally used as novelty ashtrays, salesman samples, or paperweights. The first item is a hammered finish skillet featuring a decorative textured exterior on the sides and handle. It is designed with a single pour spout and a loop handle. The base of the skillet is marked with a small incised x. The second item is a commemorative promotional skillet featuring two pour spouts and an open loop handle. The interior basin is embossed with the text International Molders and Allied Workers Union and Organized 1859. The central logo depicts a handshake beneath a foundry flask and above a gear. The organization used this specific name between 1961 and 1988, dating the production of this item to the mid-to-late 20th century. Market research identifies this commemorative piece as a product of Wagner Ware.
