Description
Two antique Belgian cast iron cooking irons designed for hearth or campfire use. One iron features a rectangular hinged head with a symmetrical waffle-grid pattern on both interior faces; its exterior is marked N. P. A HUY and No 3. The second iron features a rectangular hinged head with a waffle-grid pattern on one interior face and a flat, potentially tinned, surface on the opposing interior face, a design typically used for galettes or thin wafers. Both items are constructed with long, hand-forged rod handles that terminate in wire loop handles. These implements are characteristic of the historic metalworking traditions of Huy, Belgium, likely dating from the 19th to early 20th century.
