This lot features three distinct industrial and utility lanterns from the early to mid-20th century. The first item is an R.E. Dietz Company Monarch hot-blast tubular lantern. The steel body features a fount embossed with DIETZ and MONARCH. It is fitted with a clear glass globe embossed FITZALL N.Y. U.S.A. on one side and LOC-NOB REGD IN U.S.A. with the alphanumeric mark 4 H on the reverse. The lantern includes the original burner assembly and filler cap. The second item is a Koehler No. 209 Permissible Flame Safety Lamp, historically utilized in mining for gas detection. The upper cap is stamped with PERMISSIBLE FLAME SAFETY LAMP, APPROVAL NO. 209, and KOEHLER MFG. CO. MARLBORO MASS. U.S.A. The side frame is embossed vertically with KOEHLER TRADE MARK. The lamp features an aluminum or nickel-plated body, a glass cylinder with blue horizontal level lines, and a top-mounted hanging ring with a chain link. The third item is a slender cylindrical lantern with a black-painted metal body. It features a tiered top cap and a distinctive clear glass globe with a molded spiral pattern, protected by a wire cage. A small adjustment knob is located on the base fount. No maker’s marks were identified on the exterior of this lantern.
