Description
This livestock semi-truck and trailer was manufactured by Tonka Toys, then operating as Mound Metalcraft, Inc., in the mid-1950s. The tractor unit features the 1953?1955 Ford style cab design. The matching livestock trailer is designed with open-slat sides and a solid roof. Both components are constructed of pressed steel and finished in red paint. A worn oval decal is present on the driver-side door which reads Tonka Toys, Mound Metalcraft Inc., and Mound, Minn. The trailer features a graphic on the front bulkhead with the characters LIVESTOCK in gold-toned lettering above a bovine head logo. The vehicle is equipped with black rubber tires that are embossed with TONKA TOYS and U.S.A. on the sidewalls, mounted on metal hubs. The semi-trailer is detachable from the tractor unit via a fifth-wheel hitch mechanism.
