Description
Manufactured by Louis Marx and Co., this wind-up toy is a lithographed tin dump truck. The vehicle features a green chassis with matching green wheels and a red hood. The red dump bed has a light blue interior and is decorated with the text SAND – and – GRAVEL in yellow block lettering within a yellow-bordered frame. A circular logo for Marx Toys is printed on the side of the dump bed. A lithographed profile-style driver in a red uniform and cap is seated on a white pedestal behind the engine hood. The toy is powered by an internal clockwork spring motor mechanism with a fixed winding key located on the right side of the chassis. The dump bed is manually operated by a hinge to tilt backward for unloading. The underside of the toy reveals the internal spring and gearing of the motor.
