Lot 71:
Description
This is a two-piece ceramic covered butter dish executed in the flow blue style. The set consists of a rectangular, domed lid and a matching scalloped-edge underplate. The lid features fluted corners and a molded, tiered circular finial. Each side of the lid displays relief-molded fruit motifs, possibly cherries or peaches, paired with serrated leaves. The underplate has a wide, wavy rim that complements the lid. Both pieces are finished with a cobalt blue glaze using the flow blue technique, which creates a characteristic soft or blurred effect where the blue pigment bleeds into the white earthenware body. The color is most intense on the raised relief elements and around the borders. No manufacturer marks, factory stamps, or pattern names are visible on either piece.
