Description
This vintage railroad lantern is manufactured by The Adams & Westlake Co., commonly known by the trade name Adlake. The industrial-style lantern features a stamped steel frame with a protective wire cage surrounding a ruby red glass globe. The shoulder of the lantern is embossed with the text THE ADAMS & WESTLAKE CO. and the top chimney cap bears the embossed ADLAKE mark. The red glass globe was historically utilized as a stop or danger signal within the North American railroad system. The unit includes a top-mounted wire bail carrying handle and a perforated chimney and base designed for proper ventilation of the internal burner. Height: Approximately 9.5 inches (excluding bail) Base Diameter: Approximately 6.25 inches.
