Description
A trio of early 20th-century toasters featuring two electric side-loading models and one stovetop model. One electric unit is identified as a Universal model E 947, manufactured by Landers, Frary & Clark in New Britain, Connecticut. The base plate displays patent dates of June 15, 1915, and December 5, 1916. This unit is constructed with decorative pierced metal doors and wooden handles on the side levers. The second electric unit is a side-loading model stamped Simplex and Boston, Mass. U.S.A. on the underside, notable for its integrated wire warming rack on top. The third item is a pyramid-style manual toaster for stovetop use, made of perforated sheet metal with wire supports. All electric units are missing their power cords.
