Description
A three piece patriotic porcelain display set manufactured by Lenox. The central figurine is titled Defender of Freedom and is a limited anniversary edition produced in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution. This hand painted fine porcelain figurine depicts a bald eagle with outspread wings perched upon a draped American flag and a gray rocky outcropping. The set includes a pair of flanking scrolls titled The Foundations of Freedom Display. One scroll features the preamble and articles of the United States Constitution, while the other features the United States Bill of Rights with Amendments 1 through 10. Each scroll includes an integral modeled inkwell and a separate white porcelain quill feather. The collection is presented on a custom dark finish wooden oval base. The eagle figurine is marked Defender of Freedom, Limited Anniversary Edition, Fine Porcelain, Lenox, and features the Smithsonian Institution seal with a 1991 copyright date. The scroll figurines are marked The Foundations of Freedom Display, Fine Porcelain, Lenox, and carry a 1993 copyright date. All porcelain pieces include labels stating they were handcrafted in Malaysia.
