Lot 375:
Description
This contemporary mixed media sculpture is produced by artist Atlee Raber, known for combining natural stone elements with cast metal figures. The piece centers on a large, irregularly shaped slice of polished petrified wood, characterized by a deep dark brown and black coloration accented by fine, light-colored natural veining. Two cast white metal appliqu?s, likely pewter, are securely affixed to the polished front face. The primary figure is a large eagle depicted in flight with its wings fully extended, showing detailed feather work. Positioned below the eagle is a smaller cast rock formation reminiscent of the sandstone buttes found in Monument Valley. Both metal elements feature a matte, silver-toned finish with darkened recesses to enhance the three-dimensional texture. The reverse side of the wood slice retains its natural, rough bark texture and bears a white adhesive label identifying the artist as Atlee Raber, alongside a barcode and the number 375. The sculpture is displayed on a standard black plastic easel.
