Description
This is a Trick Dog mechanical bank, a cast iron coin-saving device featuring a design in the style of late 19th-century mechanical banks. The bank is constructed from painted cast iron components and set upon a rectangular base. The figures include a clown wearing an orange tunic and red-tipped hat, a brown barrel with a top coin slot, and a black dog. The front of the base is embossed with the title TRICK DOG in white letters flanked by green cross motifs. The end panel of the base features the embossed word BANK in white. The bank operates via a lever-activated internal spring mechanism intended to move the dog toward the barrel to deposit a coin.
