Lot 216:
Description
A group of turned wooden objects comprising a traditional exercise mace and graduated candlesticks. The exercise mace, also known as a gada, features a heavy, bulbous head crafted from highly figured hardwood with visible natural fissures and knot details. Its tapered wooden handle is inserted through the head and secured with a visible dowel at the underside. The accompanying graduated candlesticks feature ring-turned stems and flared circular bases, with each topped by a brass-toned metal candle cup insert. All pieces are constructed from a dense hardwood with prominent grain patterns, likely oak or beech. No manufacturer labels, stamps, or marks are present on the surfaces of the items.
