Description
This mechanical coin bank is a vintage reproduction of the 1886 design by Shepard Hardware Co. The figure represents Uncle Sam standing on a grey platform next to a red carpet bag. The front of the base features an embossed eagle flanked by banners reading UNCLE SAM. The sides of the red base are embossed with the word BANK. The red carpet bag is embossed with the letters U.S. The piece is constructed from sand-cast iron with a polychrome finish. The mechanism is operated by a lever located behind the figure’s right foot, which triggers the arm to drop a coin into the bag while moving the beard.
