Description
This restored industrial lubricant dispenser, commonly known as lubesters, was manufactured by Gilbert & Barker and branded for the Mobiloil line of the Vacuum Oil Company. Each unit features a rectangular sheet steel storage tank finished in a high-gloss red, supported by four swivel casters for mobility. The top of each tank is fitted with a manual hand-crank pump and a hinged cast iron fill lid. The lid is embossed with the text GARGOYLE Mobiloil VACUUM OIL CO. NEW YORK USA surrounding a central Gargoyle graphic. The pump mechanism is operated by a side-mounted crank with a black spherical knob and includes a curved delivery spout with an integrated drip cup. The front of each tank displays a shield-shaped decal featuring the red Pegasus logo above the Mobiloil name in blue serif lettering. Fine print at the lower edge of the decal reads LICENSED BY MOBIL OIL CORPORATION L 2. Visible casting marks include 3552 X on the lid hinge and 1914Y on the pump housing base. Approximately 48 inches (height) x 22 inches (width) x 10 inches (depth).
