Description
An assortment of four tobacco smoking pipes accompanied by a two-tier wooden display rack. The pipes are constructed of briar wood with mouthpieces likely made of vulcanite or ebonite. The collection includes various finishes: one pipe features a smooth polished surface, one is rusticated, and two exhibit carved or textured designs. One pipe is stamped on the underside with Tinder Box St. Claude France, identifying it as a product from the St. Claude region of France. Another pipe is stamped with Italy. The mouthpieces are a mix of straight and slightly curved stems. The wooden rack is finished in a dark stain with two turned pillar supports connecting the base to the top rail. The top rail contains six circular cutouts for pipe stems, while the base features six corresponding oval indentations to secure the pipe bowls. A paper auction tag from Atlee Raber Auctions is attached to one pipe.
