Description
This is an antique hand-cranked coffee mill manufactured by the Arcade Manufacturing Company of Freeport, Illinois. The item features a box-style construction with a dark-stained wooden base and a decorative cast iron top. The cast iron hopper assembly includes a sliding semi-circular loading door. The lid is embossed with ARCADE on the left side and MFG CO on the right side, surrounding a central starburst or rayed motif. An S-curved cast iron crank arm with a turned wooden knob is attached to the central spindle. The wooden base includes a collection drawer featuring finger-jointed construction and a cast metal pull knob. The internal cast iron grinding burr mechanism is visible through the hopper.
