Description
A cast iron No. 8 American waffle iron manufactured by The Griswold Manufacturing Company of Erie, Pennsylvania. The set comprises two circular waffle paddles and a matching high-base frame. The exterior of the paddles features the Griswold cross logo and is marked AMERICAN, NO 8, THE GRISWOLD MFG. CO., ERIE PA. U.S.A., and pattern number 886. The interior of the paddles displays a traditional square-grid waffle pattern. The base frame is marked with the letters G, R, I, S, W, O, L, D around the rim, the number 8, and pattern number 975 C. The paddles are equipped with integrated cast iron open-coil cool handles. This specific combination of the 886 pattern paddles and the 975 base is characteristic of Griswold production from the 1920s.
