Description
AAmerican-made cast iron skillet set manufactured by Griswold in Erie, Pennsylvania. The set consists of a number 8 skillet and a matching self-basting lid. Both pieces are sand-cast and feature the Griswold small logo trademark, indicating production between 1939 and 1957. The skillet is marked on the bottom with CAST IRON SKILLET, size number 8, the Griswold cross logo, ERIE PA., U.S.A., and pattern number 704 D. A size 8 is also incised on the handle near the rim. The skillet features dual pour spouts and a teardrop-shaped handle hole. The high-domed lid is marked on the underside with No. 8, the Griswold logo, ERIE PA, and pattern number 1098 C. The lid interior is designed with concentric self-basting rings to distribute moisture during cooking.
