Description
This is aNo. 6 fore plane manufactured by the Union Manufacturing Co. of New Britain, Connecticut. The tool features a cast iron body with a corrugated (grooved) sole designed to reduce friction during use on long boards. It is equipped with a wooden front knob and a rear tote handle, both constructed from hardwood. The plane includes its original adjustable frog, iron (blade), lever cap, lateral adjustment lever, and brass depth adjustment knob. Markings are cast into the metal body in multiple locations. The toe is cast with the model designation NO. 6. The bed behind the frog is cast with the maker name UNION and a patent date mark of PAT 7.28.03, referring to July 28, 1903. Length: 18 inches.
