Description

A single-sided, die-cut metal advertising sign for Hood Tires. The sign features the iconic Hood Tire Service Man, a stylized figure of a traffic officer or Mountie dressed in a red uniform tunic with a white service belt, white breeches, and black puttees. The figure is depicted with one hand raised in a stopping gesture and the other holding a red pennant-shaped flag. The flag displays the text HOOD TIRE DEALER in white sans-serif block lettering across three lines. A small white oval cap badge on the figure’s red service cap is marked with the word HOOD. The sign is constructed from a flat sheet of metal, likely aluminum or steel, and includes a single pre-drilled mounting hole at the top center. The reverse side of the sign is unpainted, showing a plain metallic finish. This graphic style represents the early-to-mid 20th-century advertising used by the Hood Rubber Company of Watertown, Massachusetts.
