Description
This diverse assortment of objects includes decorative carvings and specialized tools. The collection features several hand-carved wooden items: a letter opener with a stylized African figure finial featuring a wire-wrapped neck, a second letter opener with a tribal head finial and wire neck detail, a hairpin with a flared bird-like top, and a standing figure of an elderly man in traditional robes with a high bun and long beard. Tools include an off-white slide rule with a glass and metal cursor, marked in black on the lower left of the slide with a serial or model number 829733 and further marked KEUFFEL & ESSER CO. on the reverse (not visible in main shot but associated with the brown leather case). The case is constructed of smooth orange-brown leather with a top flap secured by a metal snap. Also present is a cast iron fishing weight or jig mold; the exterior face is cast in relief with the characters C. PALMER and WEST NEWTON PA. The interior of the mold reveals ten teardrop-shaped cavities. Accompanying this is a small cylindrical cardboard tube with a metal cap, labeled Western Steel Air Rifle Shot COPPER COATED.Measurements/notes: Largest piece is knife-shaped carving, 13 in. L.
