Description
Two antique wooden butter molds, comprising one round plunger-style mold and one rectangular box-style mold. The round mold features a hand-carved relief design depicting a rooster against a cross-hatched background within a circular border. The rectangular mold is constructed with finger-jointed sides and displays two hand-carved wheat sheaf motifs. Both molds are made from wood with a natural patinated finish and include their respective wooden plunger handles designed for pressing and releasing butter. These items represent 19th-century primitive American kitchenware. No maker marks or signatures are visible on either piece.
