Description
This 19th-century earthenware pitcher, possibly of American or British origin, is crafted from yellowware clay and finished with a mottled brown manganese glaze in the Rockingham style. The vessel is characterized by a bulbous, low-profile form with a pinched pouring spout and a molded D-shaped handle. The dark brown glaze is applied in a sponged or dripped pattern over the yellow clay body, while the interior and underside are finished with a clear yellow glaze. The base shows three stilt marks from the kiln and an unglazed foot rim. No maker marks or stamps are present.7×6 shows some crazing.
