Lot 17:
Description
10 inches. A vintage cast iron doorstop modeled in the form of a standing Scottish Terrier. The dog is depicted in an alert pose with ears pricked and tail held upright. The casting features a molded texture intended to replicate the characteristic wiry coat of the breed. The figurine is constructed from two separate cast iron halves joined together by two flat-head screws visible on the right side of the body. The object retains a dark, weathered finish throughout. While no maker marks are visible on the exterior, the form and construction are highly consistent with designs attributed to the Hubley Manufacturing Company from the early 20th century. An auction tag from Atlee Raber Auctions is attached to the rear leg.
