Description

64 x 66 This mid-20th-century American patchwork scrap quilt, also known as a utility or hit-and-miss quilt, is constructed from an eclectic assortment of cotton fabric remnants. The remnants are arranged in vertical columns and feature a variety of mid-century patterns including polka dots, multi-colored stripes, ginghams, florals, and novelty prints such as hard candy wrappers and crabs. The piece is assembled with machine-stitched patchwork. The quilting is executed in a simple utilitarian style with large-scale rectangular machine-stitched blocks that do not follow the front-facing patchwork patterns. The reverse consists of a multi-panel white fabric backing.
